Working for the liberation of all beings everywhere. Bringing higher consciousness to the planet, one eternal moment at a time.
As I scan the participants in the morning meeting, I notice a figure in shadow among the video images in Zoom. The name beneath the backlit image is Vilnis. I immediately remember the last time Vilnis appeared at a morning meeting. He came with a question about death and how to use The American Book of the Dead to confront death, which prompted a memorable exchange between the two men. The Transference Talk: What Can You Do When You're Facing Death?.
Curious, I wait for Vilnis to speak.
About forty-minutes into the morning meeting, EJ is finishing up his comments on the books that are listed on the Gateways website and remarking that the title to The Lazy Man's Guide to Death and Dying is translated into German as Death Doesn't Care How you Die, Vilnis inserts himself, and off we go.
Vilnis is waying suicide as a solution to the pain caused by pancreatic cancer, and he asks EJ for his guidance.
The remarkable coincidence of EJ's comment about death and another real question from Vilnis combine to create a sincere space where all of us were called to help. The morning talk evolves.
E.J. elicits a clear picture of the situation and invites the group to focus on Vilnis' question and offer perspectives. The group upscales to fulfill its responsibility. A professional calmness and knowing envelopes us. There are no extra words, no chattiness, nothing extra. Simply, this is a recording of someone who needs help, and a group that understands its role of service.
