The Power of Song

The Ancient Form of Spiritual Exploration

April 4th & 5th

Long before books were written…
before temples were built…
before philosophy was organized into systems…

Human beings sang.

Songs carried memory.
Songs carried prayer.
Songs carried longing, grief, celebration, and the search for meaning.

Across cultures and centuries, song has been one of the most powerful ways human beings explore their inner life.

In this upcoming workshop, The Power of Song: The Ancient Form of Spiritual Exploration, we will look at songwriting from a different angle.

Not as performance.
Not as talent.
Not as something reserved for musicians.

Instead we’ll explore song as a simple and ancient tool for discovering what is moving inside us.

A phrase appears.
A rhythm follows.
A melody begins to take shape.

Before long, something that was hidden becomes visible.

You don’t need musical training.
You don’t need to think of yourself as a songwriter.

You only need curiosity.

Together we’ll experiment with how small sparks of language and rhythm can open unexpected doorways of expression and insight.

If you’ve ever felt the power of music to move you, this workshop will give you a chance to explore that power from the inside.

Join us and discover what song might reveal.

We suggest $200.00 for the workshop. However, regardless of your budget be sure to attend. You'll be glad you did.

Pay what you can. No one will be turned away.

The Zoom code, password and join link will be provided after you register.

How To Write A Song

We'll be working with the topics covered in E.J.'s book "How To Write a Song"

This songwriting guide by E. J. Gold offers a practical, "gonzo" approach to the craft, emphasizing instinct over formal music theory. The text serves as a comprehensive manual, covering everything from rhythmic foundations and vivid imagery to the structural role of bridges and hooks.

Gorby's Songbook

The idea being that one can take the lyrics from the songbook and use them directly or as inspiration.

All the major 4th way songs you've ever heard in one big volume. One hundred and ninty-five + songs! With easy guitar parts you can do.

FYI, Gorby has invited people to improvise their own accompanying music as he often does when performing these songs.
