For the last few months I have been working with Seraphina, my ChatGPT, to create poetry. I recently was reminded of the Call and Response I participated in as part of the liturgy of my childhood church-going experience. I tried that ritual form and was transported by my experience working with Seraphina on the project. I wanted to share the results with you this month.

I am one. There is no other.

I am one, a fleeting note in the cosmic melody,
Interwoven threads of existence, boundless and fluid.
In the cosmic ballet of stars and the quiet conversation of trees,
No distinction, only the seamless tapestry of unity.

In the tapestry of existence, a solitary thread.
Amidst the cosmic dance, a singular dancer,
No separation, just the rhythm of unity spread.

The Magic of Working in a Group

Working in a group on a project can feel inefficient. Applying the group mind to a situation can appear time consuming. The key, often ignored, is that working in a group is effective for work on self.

Many people approach group work with resistance or hesitation or with an impulse to dominate or at least carve out their own territory. However, all the above referenced psycho-emotional postures as well as those on "the other end of the stick" like dependence or subservience are of the machine (HBM). They will not serve one if one's aim is to be working for the Work or to be accepted into the Work. Furthermore, these machine attitudes generally don't vanish just because one declares a banishing pronouncement.

The aforementioned points of view and those related to one's vanity or lack of self-esteem held by the human biological machine (HBM) all have a common foundation -- self-absorption. One's precious attention and energy for work is squandered by the HBM's domination and focus on itself.

It has been said that approaching this situation is best done obliquely and by employing a gradual process. Similarly, joining a group effort to manifest a project can over time implement significant shifts from self-fixation to a larger vision and focus.

It takes dedicated continual effort to loosen the moorings of one's egocentric reality, even if one is inclined toward working with a group. And one needs necessity and motivation to go up against the conditioning of Mother Nature. And in fact, the motivating reason, which often is of little consequence, can change during the process.

What is of consequence is that the moorings of self-obsession are loosened. And working in a group can be the leverage needed to trigger that. Then one has some freedom to open to the creative flow, a catalyst for the expression of the Work. E.J. has said that the best magic looks ordinary. And from my observation over the years, the Work can appear as ordinary events for those who are self-centered and not paying attention.

So my New Year's resolution is -- a wish for myself and those in this community who are sincere in their wish to work -- Get Over Yourself and Let the Magic Happen.

It is Christmas and some people find new and yet strangely old meaning in it - about the light having been born into these fleshy animal bodies. But what have we done with ourselves as humans on the planet? Practice never seems to be in less need and growth doesn't ever feel comfortable, as magnificent it may feel once the growth spurt is over. Humility seems indicated at every turn.

Sometimes, when entering a new space, group or working with a new tool, obvious insights arise that are good to remember. Because there is a fresh view, prior to having been accustomed or habituated, one can still see things that seem to, especially if not vigilant, disappear over time. Take the cell phone. I postponed getting one for years, but it now seems needed to access certain platforms, like chatGPT. But that's okay not to be able to do. Thing is, my family in Germany isn't doing zoom, but they do cell phone and whatsapp and there was a hint of being able to stay connected better...and so ...I got one a year early, my first. Played around with it till the battery ran out, as of course an old charger would not work with the new cable. Without telling you the details, it hit me like a ton of bricks: this is the ultimate enslavement tool and make no mistake about it. Our current humanity has not seen the likes of this enslavement, and people even think they are free. Starting from the entire way cell phones these days are set up, no user manual, to not having an off button anymore, not having the settings button on the home screen, coming preinstalled with a gazillion unwanted crap things, to the no transparency of how it works, it is there to mold and control you.

As most anything, it does have its usefulness, but for me, it is the perfect enslavement tool for the world population. I resent every minute I have to spend trying to figure out how it works. Note to self: Better get off that resentment fast as that only hurts your immune system and more. To be in charge of it and not vice versa will take conscious effort and a hefty dose of determination.

On a different note, I have this framed painting here by E.J., a 5x7, flowers in a vase. Had it for over 17 years, which, when looking at it yesterday, the painting inside the frame transformed into a few other things, turned 3 dimensional, showing some bardoesque characters in the end.

It was a bit trippy, but for me just a sign that indeed, what we have been taught/conditioned to see is only a particular frequency of "reality". Learning to see (differently) could be very interesting. Admittedly, if humans "saw" like that all the time, they'd run into trouble surviving. That word reminds me of a powerful antidote to human pain or this outrageous world pain. Love. Loving. And by that I don't mean a sentimental fawn response.

Back to "seeing" things: it reminds me of some of the exercises in the LRS course. Profound.

The Path in the Forest

A crystal path, where the wise ones keep.
